Set within a light-filled Art Deco apartment moments from the ocean, this bathroom renovation was designed for relaxed coastal living. Home to a couple with part-time teenage boys, the existing bathroom felt dated, cluttered, and impractical, with a shower-over-bath that no longer suited their lifestyle.
The brief was to create a contemporary, casual bathroom that felt calm, spacious, and effortless to maintain — without losing warmth or character.
Solution:
Inspired by the apartment’s coastal setting, the design centres around soft rose and earthy tones using tumbled Italian marble, marble mosaics, and brushed gold finishes. These materials introduced texture and warmth while maintaining a timeless, low-maintenance aesthetic.
Large-format terracotta floor tiles ground the space, while a generous walk-in shower with a fixed glass panel and ceiling-mounted rain shower enhances both function and flow. A wall-hung vanity and mirror-fronted cabinetry keep the room visually light and highly practical.
The result is a bathroom that feels spacious and refined, defined by clean lines, soft colour, and durable materials — a modern, relaxed retreat perfectly suited to coastal living.
